Our story
Rooted in the Himalayas, gathered in Kathmandu
The gospel first reached the Lhomi people of the Arun Valley in the 1970s. In January 1978 Pastor Jyabu Lhomi received the Lord Jesus, and despite persecution, exclusion from the village well, beatings and detention, believers continued to gather secretly in homes. Dorchi Lhomi and other elders stood with Pastor Jyabu, encouraging the young church through hardship and helping the fellowship grow.
Those home fellowships became Sinai Church in Chepuwa in 1991, and Lhomi believers living in Kathmandu formed Nomjung Church in 2000. Today Ghangri Church continues that work: nurturing believers, planting churches in the mountains, translating Scripture into mother tongues, and caring for families in their time of need.
Our mission
On the basis of the love of God the Father, the grace of the Lord Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we labour among the peoples of the Himalayan region to expand the Kingdom of God through the preaching of the gospel, prayer and intercession.

What we do
Worship in the heart language
Praise, worship and teaching in the mother tongue of each local fellowship, in spirit and in truth.
Scripture and translation
Teaching and preaching the Bible, and translating the Scriptures into the languages of the Himalayan peoples.
Church planting
Home fellowships that grow into village churches across the Himalayan region, led by mature local leaders.
Disaster response and relief
Mobilising local resources, an emergency relief fund and volunteers for humanitarian rescue and rehabilitation.

What we believe

- Salvation is a free gift of grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ.
- We practise water baptism by immersion as a public witness to Christ.
- We await the second coming of Jesus Christ in glory.
- The local church is the living hope for the world.
